News Writing

News Writing

In class, we will be composing current news articles for the school newspaper. The article will require interviews from a minimal of at least three different people. Your article must follow the format previously discussed in the beginning of the year and during the conference on Thursday, April 18th. Here are links from earlier in the class to introduction to news writing and key words for writing if you would like to refer back to them.


Students will be able to compose an intriguing news article for the school paper.
Students will be able to conduct interviews with members of the community.



Schedule


Tuesday, April 23rd: planning sheets are due along with 10 interview questions for each interviewee


Wednesday, April 24th: lead due at the end of class today (all interviews will be complete by Monday, April 29th)


Thursday, April 25th: second paragraph due


Friday, April 26th: Interview check day ( I will coming around and making sure each student has been conducting interviews. A small grade will be earned for completion on check day)


Monday, April 29th: Interviews are due

Friday, May 3rd: conferences to proof read articles


Tuesday, May 7th: Rough draft due


Friday, May 10th: Final draft due

Students will be given the class period on April 1st to complete assignment. Assignment is due before class begins on Tuesday, April 2nd.
