Students will analyze examples of editorial articles.
Students will write their editorial article.
1. Students will review a PowerPoint on Editorial Writing
2. Students will complete workbook activity 4 on p. 176
3. Students will analyze 2 examples of editorial articles
4. Students will brainstorm ideas for an editorial
5. Students will research their topic and form an outline
6. Students will begin rough drafts
7. Students will complete Editorial Columns
8. Students will present articles to the class on 3/2/12

Feature Articles
Goals: Students will begin writing their FEATURE STORY
Students will organize/outline the format of the story
Students will research and write initial ideas/ brainstorm
Students will create interview questions
**REMEMBER, THIS IS NOT A TYPICAL NEWS ARTICLE. YOUR WRITING MUST FOCUS ON ONE INTERESTING/ AMAZING TOPIC. NO GENERAL COMMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED
1. Students will research their topic on the Internet
2. Students will begin to take notes/brainstorm
3. Students will find people who are relative to their articles and conduct interviews
4. Students will begin writing their articles
Make sure you are writing to your target audience HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS.
Minimum of one interview.
Research/Interview Questions/Write: 2/9, 2/10, 2/13,2/14, 2/15, 2/16
Proofread, Revise, & Final Draft Due: 2/17

Goals:
Students will write personality profiles.
Students will know the characteristics of a personality profile.
Plan:
1. Watch clips of personality profile examples
2. Break up into groups and write 10 facts about an imaginary character your group came up with.
3. Switch facts with a different group and write a personality profile based off of the 10 facts your group was given.
4. We will share as a class the personality profiles that your groups have created.
