Goal: Students will assess the importance of quotations in news stories

Get a copy of today's Times Leader. Read four news stories. Evaluate the usage of quotes throughout the article.

GOAL: Students will locate and evaluate quotations in the newspaper

Students must finalize their Quotation Test. Place it in the yellow env. located on the front computer.

Students should get a copy of today's Times Leader. Please read several articles and note direct, partial and paraphrased quotes.

PART 2
GOAL: Students will implement quotation rules during a test on quotations.
Test Information: (Take a pencil and paper)
1. You will receive your final typed responses. These are for you to use. Do not show them to any other person in the room. Also, when giving your answer to another student, please speak at a normal rate. You may repeat your answer up to three times, but you may not slow your speech for a classmate to quote you. (We are trying to simulate a real interview)

2. Each student will receive a set of questions from a random classmate. Once you get this paper, put your name on the back and find this person.

3. You will then ask the other student the questions on your interview sheet. The other person will answer those questions. Please take good notes.

4. When you are finished interviewing, go back to your computer and type your responses. You must make a three line direct quotation, one paraphrased quote, and one partial quote. Please label each example on your paper. (all three examples must contain attribution)

5. When you are finished, put your name on the front of your papers. (Put the person's name from your interview in parentheses under your name)

6. Turn in your work to be graded
