Your interview questions are due today! No exceptions. Please make sure you have me check them by the end of class.

You should be interviewing today so that you will have the information for tomorrow. Today will be your last day to work on your rough drafts in class.

Your rough draft will be due tomorrow Tuesday 3/31 for peer editing. Please make sure you hand in your peer edit draft with your final on Wednesday.

Your final draft will be due Wednesday 4/1 and you will briefly present it to the class. (About a 5-10 minute summary of the main point of your editorial.)

Goal: Today you will choose a topic and focus on a main point for your editorial.

I would like you to write a 1-2 sentence summary of your main argument or point that you will be supporting in your editorial. Please hand this in to me before you start your rough draft.

If you are finished choosing a topic and have handed your summary to me then you may start your rough draft in class today.

We will read page 298 from the text out loud. This focuses on the importance of the point-counter point of an editorial.

After reading out loud we will be looking through the newspaper to find examples of editorials. I will have you label each section of the editorial and discuss the ones you find interesting.

When you get the newspaper I would like you to:
1) Circle the major point or focus of the article.
2) Highlight specific evidence and examples used in the article.
3) Label each part of the editorial directly on the newspaper with a pen or pencil. The four parts you will label include introduction, reaction, details/argument, and conclusion.
4) I would also like to know whether or not you like the editorial you read and why. Do you agree with the writers' argument? Why or why not?

You will brainstorm ideas and topics that could be used for your own editorials.

*You will be starting your rough drafts on editorials tomorrow.

Goal: Today you will be introduced to Editorial writing.

You will read certain sections of the book out loud. We will then go into a PowerPoint presentation.

After the presentation you will be looking through the newspaper to find examples of Editorials. I will have you label each section of the Editorial.

We will be doing Editorial writing for the next week.
