12/19- 12/23 Research Papers

Research Paper Instructions

The following is due by 12/22/05

1. Cover Page
2. Outline Page
3. 2 - 21/2 page research paper (minimum)
4. Works Cited Page (Citing a minimal of three sources in alphabetical order: 1 Printed and
2 other sources..ie. Online,interviews, websites)
5. Bibliography Page- Citing 7 sources in alphabetical order
( Cite 3 printed sources and 4 other sources)

*Remember- The works cited entries only include those materials cited within your paper
The Bibliography entries include all sources "looked at" when
researching your topic

6. Turn in your note and bib pages from your research journal. Be sure each one in numbered so the source can be organized and referenced

7. You may use personal interviews, but they must be cited in the paper as well as on the Bib and works cited pages.

12/22- Place work in a folder and turn in for grading

12/14-12/16

Students will report to the library to find information for their research papers.

Students will make note and bibliography cards for each source used

Goal: Students will explore areas of online research

Part 1

Today you will research your individual topics online.

Be sure to look at general websites as well as our school's online databases.

Make a new folder in your research journal for each new work that you use

Searching for Research

Part 1
We will begin class by conducting internet searches on our topics
-Locate articles that will work with your topic or possibly one of your group member's topic
-Read the articles, once you find one that will work with your topic
1. Make a folder in your RESEARCH JOURNAL
2. Organize your bib info using www.noodletools.com then make note pages
-Do this for each new source

Interview Questions



Since I am writing curriculum today, we will continue learning research format on Wednesday.

Part 1
In your assigned groups, turn in one sheet indicating your main "General" topic
Next, make a list of each subtopic. Please indicate who will cover each subtopic.
Turn in this sheet

Part 2
Create interview questions
Remember to create at least two sets.....You are supposed to talk to people from two different areas (ex. teacher and student)

I will approve your topics when you finish

Daily Reading
Read a story in the Times Leader that deals with a current issue in society.

Topic Research Intro.

Part 1-

1. Each students has been assigned to a group with one general topic
2. Today, each student must select a section of that topic to research
3. Students should write a brief summary of their topic

GOAL: STUDENTS will be introduced to the key elements of research (Finding research, taking notes, citing sources, and organizing information)

1. Students will explore MLA format

Students will read the daily newspaper for the last ten minutes of class
